We pushed the base to its maximum torque during two-hour sessions straight, and the force feedback never faltered. Better yet, the metal housing never exceeded two degrees above room temperature. In practical terms, the sensation you feel on the first lap is exactly the same as what you experience at the end of the race. This is far from trivial when you\u2019re stringing together endurance stints.<\/p>\n<p>The 12 Nm of holding torque announced at launch was actually increased to 15 Nm via the May 2026 software update, without any hardware changes. The parasitic noise\u2014that slight torque-induced rattling we felt on the DD1 and DD2\u2014has disappeared. Instead, you get lively and responsive feedback. When entering a turn, the load increases linearly and predictably; you can perfectly sense the moment when the front end starts to slide into understeer, and the resistance lightens to warn that the tires are losing grip. During hard braking, the ABS vibrations and the front-end response come through with enough clarity to modulate the pedal pressure without looking at the screen.<\/p>\n<p>Where this suspension setup surprised us the most was on the track surface. With careful tuning and the right QR2 connection, you get a wealth of detail from the track surface and rumble strips that make driving truly immersive. When correcting for oversteer, the torque response is crisp and quick\u2014enough to bring the rear end back in line without being overwhelmed by the forces. The idea is excellent on paper, and the actual effect is reminiscent of Logitech\u2019s TrueForce. The problem is support: so far, only iRacing really takes advantage of it. It\u2019s a nice, immersive feature, but it won\u2019t make you faster or more consistent, and its value remains limited until other sims follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>The QR2 quick release also deserves a mention. The electronics are now integrated into the shaft, which significantly increases the fastener\u2019s strength. The base comes with a QR2 on the base side, but to take full advantage of the torque, you\u2019ll need a QR2 on the flywheel side. If you connect an older quick release or a QR2 Lite, the base automatically limits the torque to 8 Nm, which negates its main selling point.
